The Pinderhughes Diversity Lecture Series has featured doctors, anthropologists, and journalists who have reflected on topics like poverty, racism, and same-sex marriage. The lecture honors Elaine Pinderhughes, a professor emerita of BCSSW, whose seminal research revealed that race, ethnicity, and power strongly influence how social workers interact with clients.
The Equity, Justice, and Inclusion Lecture is one in a series of events offered each year by the School of Social Work. Following the lecture, the school honors the recipients of that year's Distinguished Alumni Awards, which recognize BCSSW MSW or PhD alumni who have made significant contributions to the social work profession.
